Located on the edge of Garitsas Bay with superb views of the Ionian Sea and Corfu Town’s old Venetian fort, the Mayor Mon Repos Palace Art Hotel is strictly for adults-only. The hotel describes itself as being ‘where elegance meets luxury and classic meets contemporary’. What’s an Art Hotel you ask? It’s apparently all down to the design of the hotel and its many 18th century antiques sourced from the island’s Achilleion Palace.
The Mayor Mon Repos Palace Art Hotel has a swimming pool with free sunbeds and just across the road, you’ll find a small beach (extra charge for sunbeds here). Golf and tennis can be pre-booked through the hotel at nearby courses and courts.
The hotel offers both bed & breakfast and half board. Half Board includes an American breakfast and a buffet dinner in the Passaggio Bistrot restaurant where à la carte specialities are also available.
Corfu has enjoyed a rich heritage and was once even under British rule. This is reflected in the various architectural styles and there is a wealth of things to see and do during your stay on the island. The Old Venetian Fortress in Corfu Town is considered to be a masterpiece of military architecture and the Museum of Asian Art is housed in a former palace and boats a collection of Far Eastern and Indian Art. When Odysseus stopped in Corfu on his way back to Ithaca the God Poseidon is supposed to have turned his ship into the small island of Pontikonsi! There is a wealth of boat trips available including a day trip to Albania – fancy a new stamp in your passport?
